Microsoft Word 2010 Shortcuts - I

Whenever a Windows user wants to type a document on his laptop, the first thing that comes to his mind is to use Microsoft Word. Every Windows user uses it and thinks is pretty good at but wait, first have a look at these shortcuts that will surely boost your productivity and think about it again. These shortcuts will help you reduce the time you spend on doing on various things and will super boost your productivity.

A) We all manage various documents at a time and have to scroll through them very quickly, so have a look at these shortcuts to easily manage your documents: -

1. Ctrl + N

--> It will create a new Word document.


2. Ctrl + O

--> It will open a Word document.


3. Ctrl + W

--> It will close the current Word document.


4. F12

--> It will Save the current Word document As.


5. Ctrl + P

--> It will print the current Word document.


6. Ctrl + S

--> It will Save the current Word document.


7. Ctrl + F6

--> It will allow you to switch between multiple Word documents.



B) So, another important aspect after navigating between your documents in to navigate within the currently open Word documents, and these shortcuts will help you to do it in no time: -

1. a) Home

--> It will allow you to jump to the beginning of the line on which the cursor is .


b) End

--> It will allow you to jump to the end of the line on which the cursor is.

2. a) Ctrl + Home

--> It will allow you to move to beginning of the document.


b) Ctrl + End

--> It will allow you to move to end of the document.


3. a) Arrow Right

--> It will allow you to jump one character to the right.


b) Arrow Left

--> It will allow you to jump one character to the left.


4. a) Ctrl + Arrow Right

--> It will allow you to jump one word to the right.


b) Ctrl + Arrow Left

--> It will allow you to jump one word to the left.


5. a) Page Up

--> It will allow you to jump one screen up.


b) Page Down

--> It will allow you to jump one screen down.


6. a) Ctrl + Page Up

--> It will allow you to move to previous browser object as set in Browse options.

b) Ctrl + Page Down

--> It will allow you to move to next browser object as set in Browse options.


7. a) Alt + Ctrl + Page Up

--> It will allow you to jump to top of the visible window.


b) Alt + Ctrl + Page Down

--> It will allow you to jump to bottom of the visible window.


8. a) Arrow Up

--> It will allow you to move to one line up.


b) Arrow Down

--> It will allow you to move to one line down.


9. a) Ctrl + Arrow Up

--> It will allow you to move to one paragraph up.


b) Ctrl + Arrow Down

--> It will allow you to move to one paragraph up.


10. Ctrl + G/F5

--> It will allow you to go to a page, bookmark, footnote, table, comment, graphic or other locations that are given in the list of Go To.


11. F6

--> It will allow you to cycle through Ribbon or open panes or Status Bar of document window.


12. Shift + F5

--> It will allow you to go to the last change or revision. Also works after opening a document.


13. Ctrl + Shift + F5

--> It will allow you to set or go to or edit Bookmarks.


14. Alt + Ctrl + Z

--> It will allow you to go back to the previously edited location in the document.

*** Works only up to 4 places.


15. Alt + Ctrl + Home

--> It will allow you to switch between multiple Word document.


C) So, once done with navigation, now you move to edit and perform various operations on your text, for which you have to click on various options, some of which open a dialog box and it is quite difficult to switch your hand between the keyboard and the touch pad, so here are a few shortcuts to easily manage through the dialog box by just using your keyboard: -

1. Tab

--> It will allow you to cycle forward through all options and elements.


2. Shift + Tab

--> It will allow you to cycle backwards through all options and elements.


3. Ctrl + Tab

--> It will allow you to cycle forward through available pages.


4. Ctrl + Shift + Tab

--> It will allow you to cycle backwards through available pages.


5. Alt + Underlined Text

--> It will allow you to select the option indicated by the letter.
